UIndy returning to D-II World Series; IU Southeast splits first two in Lewiston; D-1 selection today

The University of Indianapolis baseball team earned its second straight trip to the NCAA Division II World Series by winning the Midwest Super Regional.

The Al Ready-coached Greyhounds swept a best-of-three series at Saginaw (Mich.) Valley State to punch the ticket to Cary, N.C. 

The eight-team NCAA D-II Championship goes June 1-8. UIndy is 41-19.

No. 10 seed Indiana University Southeast (37-19) went 1-1 in the first two games of the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.

The 10-team double-elimination event was to resume today (May 27).

NAIA member Oakland City (45-18) University lost in the championship game of the National Christian College Athletic Association World Series in Kansas City, Mo.

NCAA Division I conference tournaments were contested.

Missouri Valley Conference host Evansville (35-23) beat Indiana State University (42-13) for the championship. The Purple Aces reigned by beating the Sycamores 8-6 in the title game.

In the Big Ten Conference at Omaha, Neb., Indiana University (32-24-1) saw its tourney run end in the semifinals.

The season ended for Purdue University (33-24).

In the Mid-American Conference at Avon, Ohio, Ball State University (35-23-1) lost in the championship.

In the Ohio Valley Conference at Marion, Ill., the University of Southern Indiana (27-32) exited for the season.

In the Horizon League at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne (19-37) finished its ’24 campaign.

The NCAA D-I tournament selection show is scheduled for noon today on ESPN2.
