Taylor University came home to Winterholter Field and went on an eight-game win streak that has the Trojans at 15-6 overall and 4-0 in the Crossroads League through baseball games played March 7.
Taylor swept four games from Indiana Tech Feb. 26-27 and four more from Goshen College March 4 and 6.
Besides Taylor, NAIA weekend series winners were Indiana Wesleyan (4-0 at Saint Francis), Indiana University Kokomo (3-0 at Oakland City), Indiana University Southeast (3-0 against Rio Grande), Grace (3-1 vs. Bethel at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio), Huntington (3-1 vs. Marian at Logansport, Ind., High School).
NCAA D-II’s Purdue Northwest went 2-0 against Lewis.
The Big Ten Conference slate began over the weekend and Indiana went 3-1 in Minneapolis, taking two from Minnesota and splitting a pair with Rutgers.
Purdue (1-3) won its opener then lost three straight to Nebraska in Round Rock, Texas.
Big Ten teams are only playing within the conference during the 2021 regular season.
Other weekend series winners in NCAA Division I were Indiana State (3-0 at Florida International), Evansville (3-1 vs. Western Illinois), Ball State (2-1 at Kentucky) and Notre Dame (2-1 at Clemson).
Earlham swept season-opening doubleheaders against Mount St. Joseph and at Transylvania for a 4-0 weekend in NCAA Division III.
Also in D-III, series winners were DePauw (3-0 at Greenville) and Hanover (2-0 vs. Defiance and 1-1 vs. Manchester).
In junior college, Vincennes went 3-1 with two wins against Olney Central and one against South Suburban.
